Most of the day, my son plays independently. I play with him some, but his attention span isn't very long. We tend to play for a few minutes and then he crawls away to go exploring.
Do your children play alone for the most part? How much time during the day to you spend playing with your children? |

I don't spend a whole lot of time playing with my kids. If they come to me and ask, I never say no. But, usually they are independent as far as playing goes. The biggest things I do with Sloan are color and read books. He likes to play with his trucks on his own and doesn't want me messing with his stuff...lol

My daughter is more independent and I play with her some, if she asks for us to do something. My son, I do take time during the day with him, since I am a stay at home mommy.

My son wants me to play with him more than when he was younger. It has only been with in the last few months that he wants someone to play with him, before that he never was really into wanting to play together, but he was never a baby that wanted to be held all the time or anything like that either. I say we do 50/50, half the time my husband or I play with him and the other half he does his own thing.

My kids play with eachother
(The advantages of having them close in age) Sometimes they do venture off and fine their own thing to do and I try to play with them as much as I can but they like just being with eachother. I know it wont last long (them being nice to eachother) So im enjoying it now

mine either parallel play or fight like...well...brothers and sisters :-)
prior to starting preschool, they were both pretty independant, only coming to me if they wanted to read or watch a little noggin. Now, they are mostly independent but want me to come hang out in thier room while they build with the blocks or Lincoln logs some...I've always encouraged their independence though, nothing annoys me more than when a child is excessively clingy. I've got a niece who is nearly 12 now and cannot be in a room alone or play alone. she has the "i'm bored" syndrome. |
