I don't know if it's just yours or not. It's definitely not on mine. The only thing that shows up there are when people get awards.
I still do not get e-mail notifications about people's statuses or anything else.
How did they break us? And why can't they fix us?

I'm not sure where you're talking about. My updates have always been via e-mail. On my main page, under Account Settings, Change Notifications, I have all notifications set to go through e-mail (not SMS or Newsfeed). I've never had a box that has updates; the yellow box that says NOTICES only shows me when I have new comments or new messages.
Does that make sense?

Yeah, I guess it must be an option. That's why (I think) people update their statuses because we get e-mails about them without having to go to all our friends' pages. Or at least I do.
